14th to 16th April 2006
Location: Plymouth
Site: Aquanauts
Weather Sunny
Sea: Calm
Overview: Two days great diving out of Aquanauts in Plymouth. This was the first dive of the year that reaaly gave some hints that winter is finally over with evidence of some of the more colourful life returning to wrecks. Thanks to Mandy at Divecrew for organising this trip.
12 March 2006
Location: NDAC
Site: Chepstow
Weather Snow, ice, wind
Sea: Calm
Overview: Check out the snow! 2 dives today:- 1st trip to NDAC for Tim, Lisa and Stuart.
17th to 24th September 2005
Who: Steve (aka "Bungie Boy"), Hydrodive (HydroNauts)
Location: Scapa
Site: German High Seas Fleet
Weather Um, raining + wind (lots of it!)
Sea: Choppy is an understatement:)
Water temp: 13oC
Overview: Michelle and I were fortunate enough to join in on a trip to Scapa with a great bunch of divers. We chartered a live-aboard for a week and dived almost every day (although the weather was rough on some days as apparantly it usually is at this time of year). We got to see not only the famous German cruisers and battle ships scuttled during WWI but also dived some of the fantastic block ships in the flow. Truly a great week with some spectacular wrecks! There wasn't enough time to photograph all of the stuff that we wanted, so we'll have to return sometime shortly;)
20th to 28th August 2005
Who: Penny
Location: Sharm
Site: Tirran, Ras Mo, Thistlegorm
Weather Sunny and (very) hot
Sea: Varied
Overview: Penny and I hit Sharm for some easy dives. This was my first trip to Sharm:- It was HOT (40 degrees). We had some great dives. I managed to come home with something extra (The Squits!):- don't let the Egyptians tell you it's caused by dehydration (I was drinking 5L+ of water per day). It's not. Just don't trust some of that dodgy salad served sometimes is my advice.
21 June 2005
Who: Brian and Charlotte, Ginny, Jim, Adrian, Lorraine
Location: Swanage
Site: Besty Anna
Weather Sunny
Sea: Calm
Water temp: 16oC
Overview: We decided to make the most of the good weather and head off to Swanage for the day. The Betsy Anna is a small steam ship that lies in 24m of water. The boilers are home to several conger eels and around the wreck are cuttlefish, lobsters, bibs and pollack.
15 June 2005
Who: Jim
Location: Lake District
Site: Wastwater
Weather Raining
Sea: Fresh water but large expanse. Mild chop from the breeze
Water temp: 13oC
Overview: Jim and I were mounting a mission to locate the gnome garden. Unfortunately, we were given a deliberate bum steer (thanks guys) from divers that we talked to on the previous evening so we ended up missing the garden completely. The gnome garden is in fact located by doing the following:- As you drive along the main road adjacent to and towards Wastwater, look out for a tarmack car park on your left. Use this. Directly opposite this car park is a small beach area, swim out about 50 yards and look for a submerged buoy at around 4m. Descend to the bouy. Set a bearing of 180 degrees on your compass. As you swim down a genltle slope down, you'll come across various rock piles to show that you are following the right route. The gnome garden is (apparantly) at around the 50m mark.
14 June 2005
Who: Jim
Location: Lake District
Site: Capenwray
Weather Overcast and rainy
Sea: n/a: Quarry
Overview: This site has excellent viz. We had upwards of about 15m (apparantly this was bad???). Lots to play with in the lake.
19 February 2005
Location: Looe, Cornwall
Site: James Egan Layne
Weather Fresh with Arctic winds:)
Sea: Mild chop
Water temp: 11oC
Overview: The JEL is alway s great dive. She's a huge liberty ship with tons of interesting cargo still to see. There is an abundance of life living on the wreck. I made friends with a small fish who got so curious that it eventually checked out my neoprene 5mm gloves for taste:) The glove obviously wasn't on the fishes menu so it swam off.
19 February 2005
Location: Looe, Cornwall
Site: Scylla
Weather Fresh with Arctic winds:)
Sea: Mild chop
Water temp: 11oC
Overview: The Scylla has changed a lot this season. Soft corals are starting to grow on her bow. The inside is starting to aquire silt and could be quite dangerous for novices now due to a potential "silt out" whilst inside the wreck making it difficult to find your way out of the wreck without a line. Interestingly, when we arrived at the Scylla, the familiar large yellow bouys have gone. It appears that they were swept away in the last storm (Nature 1, human "inginuity" 0)
18 February 2005
Location: Looe, Cornwall
Site: Kanteong
Weather The wind picked up slightly in the afternoon but we were quite sheltered closer to the shore.
Sea: Calm
Water temp: 11oC
Overview: A natural wreck. The Kanteong is a steam dredger that sank on it's maiden voyage (actually in transit being delivered). Taking it nice and slow, it's around a 40 minute swim around the wreck
18 February 2005
Location: Looe, Cornwall
Site: Hat Rock
Weather Flat calm. Who says February is no good for diving?
Sea: Calm
Water temp: 11oC
Overview: This is one of the best dives on the planet. Check the photos:- they speak for themselves.
20 and 21st November 2004
Location: Portland
Site: BENNENDIJK, Landing Craft and M2
Weather Amazingly warm for end November. Sat/Sunday were better than most Summer days this year.

Overview: Three fantastic dives! * BENNENDIJK (28m, 68 mins run time, EAN32) * LANDING CRAFT (17m, Air, locating and exporing a tied off rope from the stern of the landing craft to an "unknown" wreck about 50m along the wall:- v. exciting * M2 (21/35 + 50% Deco, Run time 64 mins). Totally gobsmacked:- awesome wreck largely intact after 70 odd years! Unfortunately, my camera broke on this dive so no piccies this time:(
